LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting outside a popular restaurant in Hollywood early Tuesday morning.
Los Angeles police officers responded at 2:10 a.m. to the Bossa Nova Restaurant in the 7100 block of Sunset Boulevard, following reports of a shooting. First responders found an unresponsive 23-year-old man with gunshot wounds.
The victim, who has not yet been identified, died at the scene, police said. He reportedly had been sitting inside a vehicle with a female passenger just prior to the shooting. The woman stepped outside the car, authorities said, at which point up to eight people approached her and attempted to rob her.
The victim got out of his car armed with a weapon, according to LAPD, just before an exchange of gunfire. It's unclear if anyone else was hurt in the incident.
Witnesses said the suspects drove away from the scene in a black Nissan or a gray sedan, and were described only as Black males with handguns.
Police have not arrested any suspects.
