MALIBU, Calif. (KNX) — A man wearing a security guard uniform was found dead in a parking lot in Malibu Tuesday morning. Authorities now suspect he may have been assaulted.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies responded to the 30700 block of Pacific Coast HIghway at around 7:15 a.m. on reports of an unresponsive man found lying in a pool of blood in the lot.

The parking lot is attached to the Trancas Canyon Nursery.

First responders declared the victim, a caucasian man believed to be about 58 years old, dead at the scene. Though he bore no obvious wounds, investigators said there was a large amount of blood surrounding him.

Deputies said the victim was found wearing a security guard uniform, and that they later learned that he was the overnight security guard at the shopping center.

The victim was found to have blunt force trauma to his upper torso and authorities said he may have been assaulted overnight in the nursery parking lot.

Anyone with information about the death or the victim has been asked to call the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Tipsters wishing to remain anonymous may call the L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
