Man found dead in Stevenson Ranch parking lot identified

Authorities Monday identified a man who was found dead in the parking lot of a Stevenson Ranch golf club over the weekend.

Deputies were sent to The Oaks Club at Valencia, in the 16500 block of Heritage View Lane, about 2:15 p.m. Saturday and found the man on the ground in the parking lot, according to the Deputy Michael Chen of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Refugio Mejia, Jr., 44, of Santa Clarita was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, which listed his cause of death as "deferred."

Deputies found no sign of foul play, according to Chen, and homicide detectives were not called to the scene.
