A burglary suspect who tried to rob a Norwalk sporting goods store got stuck on his way out of the business on Thursday.

Deputies responded to Turner's Outdoorsman at 3 a.m. after the alarm went off. Lt. Jaime Magana with the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department told KNX News Pete Demetriou that when they went into the store to search for a suspect, they saw him as he was climbing back into the ceiling, where he hid and got stuck.

“As our Special Enforcement Bureau personnel were preparing their tactical plan, the suspect did finally surrender,” he said.

The man, who will now be charged with felony burglary, was not armed and only had minor injuries from being stuck in the ceiling crawlspaces.

Store management called in repair and alarm crews to fix the damage, and were open for business by mid-afternoon.
