Police Wednesday are continuing an investigation of a shooting in Long Beach where police recovered a gun that they say was used in the shooting.
Long Beach Police Department officers were called at 7:46 p.m. Monday to the 400 block of West Fifth Street regarding a shots fired call where they found a man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body, police said.

During their initial investigation, police learned two men were engaged in a physical altercation when one of them accidentally fired a gun, injuring himself. The second man left the scene before officers arrived, police said.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel were called and took the wounded man to a hospital for treatment for his injury.
Officers recovered a firearm at the scene. No other injuries were reported and the investigation is ongoing.
