Man shot and killed in Venice

An investigation was under way Monday into the shooting death of a 30-year-old man who was gunned down in the Venice area of Los Angeles.

Officers responded about 8:45 p.m. Sunday to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon with shots fired at Carlton Way and Walnut Avenue, a few blocks north of Venice Boulevard, and found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman.

The man was unresponsive and Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, the spokesman said.

Suspect information was not immediately available and no details were released about what led to the gunfire.
