Man shot in downtown L.A. while standing on car

A man was hospitalized after he was shot while standing on top of a car in downtown Los Angeles, authorities said Monday.

The shooting happened at 10:45 p.m. Sunday at 1622 Long Beach Ave., according to a dispatcher at the Los Angeles Police Department's Operations Center.

The 29-year-old man was standing on top of a car when a male approached him and fired multiple gunshots at him before running away, she said.

Paramedics took the victim to a hospital where his condition was not known, the dispatcher said.
