A man was stabbed by a person walking past him on a Long Beach sidewalk, authorities said Monday.

The victim suffered a non-life threatening stab wound to the lower body, the Long Beach Police Department reported.
Officers were called to a hospital around midnight Monday morning on a report of an assault with a deadly weapon, contacted the victim.
The victim told officers that he was walking in the area of Walnut Avenue and Sunshine Court when a suspect walked past him and stabbed him.
Police had no suspect information and the motive for the assault was not immediately known. Officers canvassed the area were unable to find any additional evidence.
