The shots were fired about 7:45 p.m. on May 9 at Rolling Hills Plaza, in the 2600 block of Airport Drive, according to Torrance police.
Responding officers found shell casings but no victims and when detectives followed up, they learned the suspect allegedly "intentionally targeted a known female victim," according to the Torrance Police Department.
The suspect, identified as John Christman, 47, fled to the Philippines, but police obtained an arrest warrant and were assisted by U.S. Homeland Security Investigations and U.S. Marshals, "both of which were vital in locating and transporting the suspect back to the U.S.," according to a police statement.
Anyone with information regarding the case was urged to call the Torrance Police Department's Detective Division at 310-618-5570.
