Delcid is facing a special circumstance murder charge, as well one charge of attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. If convicted, he faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The 17-year-old is also being charged in juvenile court. His charges were not specified.

Solorio was shot and killed while sitting in his car in the parking lot of an LA Fitness Monday night. Officials said Delcid approached Solorio while the 26-year-old was in his car and tried to rob him. When Solorio put the car in reverse, Delcid allegedly shot him.

Delcid left in a car that was allegedly driven by the teenager.

At the time of his death, Solorio had just graduated from the sheriff’s training academy.

“Although his time with (the department) was very short, we all knew from the moment we met him that he had the heart of service and was going to be a great officer,” Monterey Park Police Department Chief Kelly Gordon Gordon said.

Solorio is survived by his parents, brothers, sisters and fiancé.  A GoFundMe was established to help with funeral expenses.

Delcid will be arraigned on Wednesday afternoon.
