Marine Lance Cpl. Kareem Grant Nikoui will be honored Friday with a funeral procession through the city of Norco in Riverside County.

The 20-year-old was among the service members who provided security during the withdrawal of U.S. military from Afghanistan. He is one of 13 service members who lost their lives in the terrorist attack near the Kabul Airport on Aug. 26.

“The U.S. Marine, who graduated from Norco High School in 2019 and served in JROTC, was committed to serving his country and is survived by his mother, father and siblings,” the city said on Facebook the day after Nikoui’s death.

"The City of Norco respectfully salutes the service members who paid the ultimate sacrifice in Kabul, Afghanistan and our thoughts and prayers are with their families during this difficult time."

The city will honor the late Marine by enshrining his name on its “Lest We Forget Wall” at the George A. Ingalls Veterans Memorial Plaza. The wall honors Norconians who died while serving in the U.S. military.

Nikoui’s remains are slated to return home to Norco around noon Friday. A Fallen Hero procession will follow at 2 p.m. to saute the Marine and his family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18 at Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside.
