SAN RAMON, Calif. — (KNX) A husband and wife team was arrested for robbery and conspiracy after luring someone the wife met online to a Thousand Oaks hotel before beating and robbing him on Christmas Eve, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office (VCSO) said.
The couple was arrested last Thursday in San Ramon, Calif., one month after the robbery of the man on Dec. 24, 2021. The victim told investigators he met the wife, Cameron Perez, on a site where "males meet females who are interested in finding someone to provide them financial support," VCSO said in a statement.

The victim told police he was alone with Perez in the hotel room when, after some time, her husband arrived at the room and beat him with a weapon before taking "a large sum of money" and property from him. Both Perez and her husband, Jonathan Perez, got away before deputies arrived.
"During the investigation, East County Major Crimes detectives were able to identify the suspects," VCSO said.
"As the investigation continued, detectives determined the suspects were in the city of San Ramon, Calif."
Detectives with the San Ramon Police Department assisted in arresting the couple on Jan. 27, after learning that their vehicle was at a hotel in their city. Arrest warrants were served for both, in addition to warrants for their vehicle and hotel room.
Jonathan Perez was found with a loaded firearm when he was arrested. Both he and his wife were arrested on robbery and conspiracy warrants issued out of Ventura County and booked into the Contra Costa Jail. As of publication, neither is showing up on the jail's inmate search.
Law enforcement officials warn all who meet up in person with people they've met online to do their research before ever agreeing to meet up with someone alone.
"Often times these subjects are not who they claim to be and are looking to victimize individuals," investigators said in a statement.
"If anyone else has been the victim of these subjects, they are encouraged to contact law enforcement to report the incident.
