Councilman Tim McOsker is pushing for a 45-day moratorium on Los Angeles issuing any new smoke shop business licenses in his council district.
McOsker, who represents Wilmington, the Harbor, and San Pedro, told KNX News’ Craig Fiegener that L.A. needs laws on the books to keep smoke shops from appealing to kids.
“One of the things I've noticed and I'm concerned about is that I see snacks and sweets and salty snacks, which is really designed to bring in kids,” he said. “These are not dispensaries. These are smoke shops. I went into a smoke shop recently, and it was selling canisters of nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide.”

If this passes, McOsker said that L.A. will use those 45 days to devise new rules to change what smoke shops can sell.
