Meet Rudy - the L.A. County therapy dog who won a big award!

A Los Angeles County therapy dog named Rudy is one of the top dogs in the country!

The former KNX Hero of the Week won this year’s American Kennel Club's Humane Fund Award for Canine Excellence.

Rudy, a standard poodle, is part of a group called Blue Line Dogs, who comfort officers and deputies after traumatic events. He regularly works with the LAPD, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, the fire departments, and CHP, among other law enforcement organizations.

“Humans have been evolving together for over 20,000 years, and dogs have a naturally protective instinct toward humans,” his handler, Steve Zonis, told KNX News’ Emily Valdez.
