‘Stop gaslighting like this is safe’ — Metro’s Dodger Stadium walk video draws backlash

Metro has been encouraging Dodgers fans to walk after postseason games, but it's raising safety questions.

The agency posted a social media video on X, formerly Twitter, which shows how people can walk from the stadium down to the Chinatown A-Line station in about 25 minutes.

While the video was presented as a way to show people they didn’t have to take the Dodger bus, many took to X to share their criticisms.

“Over a mile walk at night… Stop gaslighting like this is safe. How about building a station next to the stadium like others?” user Chris36731656 said.

“When you guys woke up this morning, and got to the office did you all get together and say: “Hey! How can we embarrass ourselves the most on social media today?” a user named BosunPipe wrote.
“Because if you did, this video is an incredible success. Embarrassing…”

“Nice try. DIY,” a username Irvine Old Driver wrote.

“Nope, this will end badly. LA is NOT safe,” user LAPRPaula wrote.

Dan Vicuna told KNX News he and his family saw the video and tried out the route after the game on Sunday.

“There's no sidewalks. [There are] some painted strips on the ground that are really hard to see, and then once you kind of get directly out of the parking lot there's the road that takes you down to Stadium Way and that's totally unprotected,” he said. “ There's no way for cars to know. That isn't a lane that they can just move over into it. It's kind of like you're walking on the shoulder of like a four-lane highway.”

Vicuna added that he likes the public transit option to Dodger Stadium, but that the team and Metro should work together to create a safe walkway.

Metro officials sent the following statement to KNX News:

“Metro is aware of and understands public concerns about the walking path from Dodger Stadium to our A Line Station in Chinatown. Some game attendees do use this route, but our recommended transportation option to and from Dodger Stadium is the free Dodger Stadium Express, which Metro operates roundtrip service from LA Union Station and Harbor Gateway Transit Center in the South Bay. Our express service is clearly the easiest way to leave your car at home, Go Metro and enjoy a frequent, safe, free and accessible to all ride to watch the Dodgers beat the New York Yankees [sic].”

The Dodgers and Yankees will face off for game one of the World Series at Dodger Stadium on Friday at 5:08 p.m.
