Authorities sought the public's assistance Monday in locating a 16-year-old girl last seen in Lakewood.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Megan Marie Torres was last seen Thursday in the 5800 block of Woodruff Avenue around 7:30 a.m.

"Megan did not attend school that day," the department said in a statement. "She has no possible destination, nor has she ever run away before."
Deputies described Torres as a 5-feet-7-inch tall Hispanic girl weighing 163 pounds with brown hair and eyes. She was last seen wearing a black sweater and light blue jeans.

Anyone with information about Torres' whereabouts was urged to contact the sheriff's Missing Persons Unit at 323-890-5500. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
