A street takeover in Long Beach on Monday morning led to a mob breaking in and ransacking a local family-owned market.
Around 1 a.m., a group of motorists blocked the intersection of Orange and Harding, according to City News Service. During that time, a large groupo of people broke into J&G Market.
Residents say they’ve had enough of the street takeovers with one woman saying it’s happening every weekend.
“Police don't do nothing,” one woman told KNX News’ Jon Baird. “They take, like, sometimes one hour to 30 minutes to come here. They sit back there where I live at…and they still be doing it and they hit people's cars. They hit people's cars. They keep going. It's just it's crazy.”
Another woman said that while the street takeovers are happening often, this is the first time they’ve broken into the market.

“Since I've been living here, they never broke into the little market over here,” she said. “They never destroyed anything. They just parked their cars here, but I guess last night it was something different.”
Baird reported that the owner of the market showed up to clean up the store. It’s unclear how much the store lost in merchandise.
