The family of an 8-year-old girl is suing Sierra Canyon School over alleged sexual abuse the girl experienced at school at the hands of older students.

The girl's mom told KNX News that the older girls held a "kissing club" inside one of the bathrooms during school.

“She, initially, was just a witness, and they kind of forced her to sit there and watch as two other girls would kiss and touch each other sexually in the bathroom stall,” she said. “And they would leave the door open, and then it escalated to one of the girls doing it to my daughter and forcing her to do it back to her.”

The mom said when she learned that her then-7-year-old daughter was being forced to participate, she notified the school, but nothing was done.

Sam Dordulian, the attorney representing the family, said the school had information on what was happening.

“They might have found out earlier,” he said. “At one point, they found a clip that the children were taking of themselves in the bathroom, kissing each other, and they sent it to themselves. One of the teachers grabbed the phone of the child and sent it to herself, and again, I question whether that's even appropriate depending on what's on that tape.”

The mom said her daughter is in therapy and went to a new school.
