PERRIS (CNS) - A motorist was fatally injured when his sedan slammed into a minivan whose driver pulled onto a Perris street from a business parking lot, directly into the victim's path, authorities said Friday.

The deadly wreck occurred shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday in the 2200 block of North Perris Boulevard, near Avocado Avenue, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Sgt. Jeremy Bracey said that the victim, whose identity was not immediately released, was traveling northbound on Perris in his 2002 Honda Accord at an undetermined speed when the driver of a 2014 Nissan Quest exited the parking lot, pulling into northbound lanes.

"The Honda ... collided with the rear end of the Nissan, sending the Nissan across the roadway to the opposite side of the street," Bracey said.

County fire department paramedics reached the location within minutes and extricated the Honda driver, who was taken to a regional trauma center, where he died a short time later, the sergeant said.

He said that the Nissan driver, whose identity also was not disclosed, suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from the same hospital.

"It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision," Bracey said.

Anyone with information relevant to the investigation was asked to contact the sheriff's Perris station at 951-210-1000.
