LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Authorities sought the public's help Wednesday to find the hit-and-run motorist responsible for severely injuring a pedestrian in the Westlake area.
The man was crossing the roadway at Third Street and Westlake Avenue at about 8 p.m. on May 14 when he was injured, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.
"As he was crossing westbound Third Street, a gray 2007-2010 Toyota Camry struck the victim from behind," police said in a statement. "The collision caused the victim to fly into the air and land on the street. The driver continued westbound, made a northbound right turn onto Alvarado Street, and fled without rendering aid or identifying him or herself."
Paramedics took the man to a hospital, where he remains hospitalized and is expected to survive, police said.
A standing reward of up to $25,000 has been offered by the city of Los Angeles for information that helps solve a non-fatal hit-and-run.
Anyone with information on the case was urged to contact LAPD Detective Juan Campos of the Central Traffic Division at 213-833-3713, or 31480@lapd.online. Tipsters may also call 877-LAPD-247.
