A town hall meeting is set for Wednesday evening for people affected by the Mountain Fire in Ventura County to help make a case to tap into federal aid.
The director of Ventura County’s Department of Emergency Services says it isn’t easy.

“We have to have well over $70 million of damage to qualify for that FEMA public assistance program, and it’s likely we won’t reach that,” he said.
Ventura County Fire Chief Dustin Gardner told County Supervisors this week that the fire damage could have been much worse if they hadn’t responded so quickly.
According to the Ventura County Star, officials are now warning that the rainy season could worsen things, with the possibility of flash flooding and debris flows in the area.
The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Rancho Campana High School Performing Arts Center. A local assistance center will also open Thursday at the Ventura County Office of Education.
