After days of speculation about mysterious drones flying over the East Coast, more drones were spotted over Temecula on Wednesday.

Some locals told Fox 11 they saw the lights coming from the direction of Camp Pendleton. Officials from the Marine base said they’re aware of the drones, but they’re “not associated and do not impact Camp Pendleton’s training and operations."
So if it’s not the Marines, where are these things coming from? Dr. Pramod Abichandani with the New Jersey Institute of Technology told KNX News it would be highly unusual for such a large group of drones to be flown by civilians.
“They're seeing a bunch of drones flying in concert with each other, and it's rather fascinating to see that because most of the time, such type of groups of drones are used for military purposes or research purposes, like in my case, but not necessarily for civilian purposes,” he said.
But Abichandani said the drones that have been spotted don’t have the battery life to travel overseas, so they likely weren’t launched by a foreign country. He doubts the objects pose any threat.
“I'm not yet concerned about anything that's anti-national, antisocial, or spying,” he said. “I think right now it's mostly leaning towards a group of smart people who have enough funding and enough time, enough resources to test out these systems.”
The Biden administration has said multiple agencies, including the FBI, are investigating the sightings.
