Los Angeles County officials concede that the area is not moving out of the most restrictive tier for re-opening today.

But the Board of Supervisors will be discussing calls today for far greater efforts to re-open school campuses for in-person classes.

Hundreds of parents, backed by private schools and the Catholic Archdiocese of LA, have signed a petition demanding action.

Parent Shannon Castellani’s children go to a Catholic school in Manhattan Beach.

“We are very concerned that every other surrounding county is allowing for the school waiver process to open and for little ones, especially K through 5, I have a first grader and a second grader and it is very important to them have in-person instruction done safely with social distancing,” she said.

The Chair of the Board of Supervisors Kathryn Barger says she is open to considering the matter.
