SANTA MONICA (CNS) - A person was stabbed in the chest Monday near a restroom building on the beach in Santa Monica and taken to a hospital in unknown condition.
Police responded to the 2000 block of the beach around 2:07 p.m. on a report of an assault with a deadly weapon and found the injured person, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

The victim sustained a stab wound to the chest and was administered CPR until the arrival of paramedics, police said.
The suspect is currently in police custody.
