LA County Library is hosting an open house to celebrate Norwalk Library’s full reopening on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The open house “will feature an outdoor activity for children and teens, a walkthrough of the library’s newly refurbished space, and special messages from Supervisor Janice Hahn, LA County Library Director Skye Patrick, and representatives from the City of Norwalk and the local community,” according to a release from LA County Library.

Visitors to the newly refurbished library will notice a change to the furniture and layout.

The library will also have new features such as a laptop vending machine with 12 laptops for in-library public use, USB/power outlets at every reading table and ADA-complaint ramps and bathrooms.

The $4 million refurbishment project began in February 2020 and was completed in March 2021. The refurbishment fund received support from Hahn’s Supervisorial District 4 Capital Fund.

Norwalk Library is one of 85 LA County libraries currently open for in-person services at 75 percent capacity.

LA County Library is one of the largest library systems in the US. Founded in 1912, it offers free public resources to 3.4 million residents.

County residents can visit LACountyLibrary.org for information on additional library openings, hours, services and scheduled events.
