Oprah Winfrey revealed in a new interview she uses weight loss medication.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE Magazine, Winfrey said she uses the medication “as a tool.”
"The fact that there's a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for,” she said. I’m absolutely done with the shaming from other people and particularly myself.”
The media mogul did not name the exact medication that she uses. During a panel she hosted for Oprah Daily in September, she admitted she had thoughts of taking Ozempic.
She also shared she struggled with the idea of using weight loss drugs.
“Even when I first started hearing about the weight loss drugs, at the same time I was going through knee surgery, and I felt, 'I've got to do this on my own,” she said. “Because if I take the drug, that's the easy way out.'"
Winfrey said she began her weight loss journey in 2021.
