More than 100 Long Beach hotel hospitality workers, including cooks and servers, authorized a strike on Friday.
The group is demanding what their peers at dozens of other hotels were able to win in the past year -better wages and benefits.
KNX News' Nataly Tavidian spoke to one of the workers at Westin Long Beach about the looming strike, which comes after their contract expired last month.
“We already tired of asking politely about changes that we need,” said Juana, who works at the hotel as a room attendant.
About 112 workers at her job, where she’s worked for a decade, want higher wages, a pension, and better health care.

“We can’t survive on the wages that we have right now. I don't think it's fair. This can’t continue like that. I mean, if it’s a strike that’s going to make that change, definitely I’m ready no matter what,” Juana said.
So far, more than 60 hotels in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas have granted workers what they're asking for.
