A line formed once again on the Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica as residents of the Pacific Palisades wait to get permits to return to their homes to see the damage.
KNX News’ Jon Baird reported that the line started around 5 a.m. Wednesday. By 7:30 a.m., he reported that there were about 20 cars in line and that the police just arrived.
He spoke with Neal Steffin, who was going to check out his mother’s house which was destroyed. He said police had told them they weren’t sure when the line was going to open.
“I called another hotline. It said 10 a.m.,” he said. “A security guard said 9 a.m. Patience is a virtue right now.”
Another man, Jordan, told Baird his house and cul-de-sac made it through the fire.
“I'm meeting a hazard tester there now to test the inside and outside of the house,” he said.
