LOS ANGELES (CNS) — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a pickup truck in Downtown Los Angeles Monday night.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics were called to the area of Alameda and Palmetto streets, near Skid Row, after the pedestrian was struck, said the department's Margaret Stewart.

A Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman said witnesses said a 2000 pickup truck of an unknown make and model fled the area, heading southbound on Alameda.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the victim would be identified after relatives are notified.
Preliminary reports suggested the pickup truck fled after striking the pedestrian, but LAPD could not immediately confirm the events of the collision.
No further details were available.
