The Hollywood stars who lost their luxury homes in the Palisades Fire have captured plenty of attention, but not everyone impacted by the disaster was a wealthy celebrity.
Around 20 middle-class residents of the Pacific Palisades Bowl Mobile Estates returned on Wednesday to sift through the remains of their homes, looking for items that might have survived the firestorm.
Beverly Narayan, who lived at the mobile home park for eight years, arrived dressed in head-to-toe coveralls and an N95 mask to look for a few sentimental valuables.
“I have a sifter and a shovel, and I'm just looking for a ring that my dad gave me and a gold cross that I was given when I was baptized,” she told KNX News’ Pete Demetriou. “Everything else is pretty much gone.”
Narayan said she and her neighbors have been communicating through a WhatsApp group. She said every person she’s spoken to has said they want to rebuild and keep their oceanside community intact.
“People are scared and they’re angry and they’re upset and they want to come back,” she said.

Narayan said her hope is that the property’s owners will allow her and the other leaseholders to rebuild homes in their spaces in the community.
