LOS ANGELES (CNS) — A person was killed and at paramedics rushed three others to local hospitals Friday, following a traffic crash involving at least a six vehicles — including two big rigs — on the 5 Freeway near Dodger Stadium, in Elysian Park.
A 67-year-old woman, a 29-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl were transported to area hospitals. Their conditions were unknown, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Four other people injured in the crash declined transport, Prange said, adding that one of the three that had to be rushed to the hospital had been pulled from their car by firefighters using "hydraulic rescue tools."
Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched at 8:07 a.m. to the southbound 5 freeway at Stadium Way, according to the LAFD. The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
Southbound I-5 was closed at SR-110 for several hours due to the crash, according to Caltrans and drivers were asked to find alternate routes or expect heavy delays in the area.
By 12:30 p.m. all southbound lanes had been reopened.
