Authorities Thursday sought the public's help to find the hit-and-run motorist responsible for killing a woman who was struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Wilmington in October.

The woman was injured about 7:20 p.m. on Oct. 6 at Anaheim Street and King Avenue, and she died at a hospital three weeks later, the Los Angeles Police Department reported. Information on her identity was not immediately available.

"The suspect vehicle, described as a white sedan, was traveling west on Anaheim Street at the intersection of King Avenue when it collided with a female pedestrian walking in a marked crosswalk," an LAPD statement said.

"The force of the collision caused the victim to be propelled into the air before landing in the roadway," police said.

A standing reward of up to $50,000 has been offered by the city of Los Angeles for information that helps solve a fatal hit-and-run.

Police released a security image of the hit-and-run car, and urged anyone with information on the case to call the LAPD South Traffic Division at 323-421-2500, or the 24-hour police tipline at 877-LAPD-247.

Tipsters may also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS, or use the website www.lacrimestoppers.org.
