Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department homicide detectives Thursday are investigating the shooting of an armed suspect by Pomona police officers.
Officers from the Pomona Police Department responded at 10:35 p.m. Wednesday to the 1400 block of West Ninth Street at a mobile home park regarding a shots fired call.
According to police, officers encountered the suspect with a handgun. After multiple commands to drop the gun, the suspect fired at police and the officers returned fire, according to reports from the scene.
The suspect was wounded during the shooting and was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
