Ports of L.A. and Long Beach to host 2028 Olympic sailing events

On Monday, officials have finalized the venues for sailing events in the 2028 Olympic Games, which will be spread out between the Port of L.A. and the Port of Long Beach.

The Port of Los Angeles will host six sailing events, including men's and women’s dinghy, skiff, mixed dinghy, and mixed multihull.


Belmont Shore in Long Beach will host four board events, men's and women’s windsurfing, and men's and women’s kite.

“Earlier in the year, we made an argument for boat sailing events in San Pedro as being an ideal venue, and so I'm grateful that the IOC and LA 28 saw fit to move several of the disciplines over to San Pedro,” he said.

Officials say both the L.A. and Long Beach venues offer favorable racing conditions for the best sailors in the world to compete in their specific events, while at the same time ensuring spectators see smooth sailing in terms of optimal viewing conditions.
