Police at UCLA have just broadcast an announcement that the pro- Palestinian encampment on campus is an unlawful gathering, and everyone has been ordered to leave.

LISTEN LIVE to KNX News for updates as they come in:

There is a massive law enforcement presence standing by at the campus, suggesting that a possible move to dismantle the encampment is imminent.

Organizers of the Palestinian encampment at UCLA have put out a statement calling on the community to come to the campus to help defend the gathering.

Protesters say they are "ready to stand firm against an institution who would see us destroyed -- the very institution that claims to care for `student safety' and the very institution that encouraged last night's Zionist assault."

Several thousand people have gathered on the campus steps leading up to the west side of the encampment in an effort to provide a blockade of sorts.

Law enforcement are positioned on multiple sides in what could be preparation to dismantle the camp.

UCLA officials say all campus operations will be "limited" Thursday and Friday, and all normally in-person classes are "required to pivot to remote tomorrow and Friday."

"Employees are encouraged to work remotely wherever possible and should consult with their supervisors. Events and research activities are encouraged to go remote or be rescheduled wherever possible."

The hospital and health system will remain open. UCLA Extension classes will continue, except for those scheduled on the UCLA campus, which will "either be moved to other locations or online."
