Problems persist for some people in LA County trying to lock-down an appointment to get the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Hearing about those who are spending hours on the phone or the computer struggling to secure a time slot at community clinics, LA County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said she is sorry to hear that.
"We have talked to everybody that received a vaccine through the County. And we have insisted that they make sure that people who got first doses at their sites are informed about how they are going to get their second doses. Because we give all those sites enough vaccines to do those second doses," she says.
There have been issues booking second dose appointments at city-run sites as well.
A spokesperson for the Mayor said software limitations left them unable to collect phone and email information for more than 2800 people vaccinated between Dec. 30 and Jan 9 at the Lincoln Park, Crenshaw Christian Center, Hansen Dam and San Fernando Park sites.
Individuals vaccinated between December 30 and January 9 at the Lincoln Park, Crenshaw Christian Center, Hansen Dam or San Fernando Park sites who have not received an SMS or email notification from Carbon Health by February 1 can go to Dodger Stadium between 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the second dose date on their CDC vaccination card or any other day this week.
All impacted individuals should arrive with their CDC vaccination card and photo ID to receive their vaccination.
Those without a car can go to Lincoln Park or San Fernando Park.
The City has since deployed new software that allows for auto-scheduling of second dose appointments for all patients.
