Parents at Porter Ranch Community expressed concern and anger over a proposal that would move some middle school kids into the high school in order to deal with the ongoing overcrowding issue.
At least 200 parents and students staged a protest during the day on Monday before returning that night for the school district meeting.
One resident, Shauna Isenberg, told KCAL News that the parents prefer the school’s current K-8 model.
“That was the unique drawing point here,” she said.
“ It was to be able to benefit from that with our family."
During the meeting Monday night, one district official assured parents no changes would be made at this time.
“Let me be crystal clear, there are no plans about closing anything or any grade,” he said.
Officials added they are currently reviewing other ideas, including adding bungalows or buildings.
