The exception Wednesday night was in the Grapevine area, where light snow was expected.

For Thursday, the weather service forecasted a 40% chance of showers -- and slight chance of thunderstorms -- in the afternoon, with high temps in the mid-60s and south winds of around 15 mph.

"Light totals and rain rates will be most common, but there is around a 5 to 10 percent chance of rates of 0.5 to 0.75 inches per hour for any given location," the NWS said. "The highest threat of these rates is for Los Angeles County. Thursday and Friday, northwest to northeast gusts of 20 to 40 mph are expected for mountains. Snow levels will be around 5,000 feet or above Thursday onward."

The party cloudy conditions were expected to linger into Thursday night, with a 20% chance of showers and temps in the mid- to upper-40s, before clear skies return after midnight.

Sunny skies with highs in the mid-60s and into the 70s were expected Friday, with the sunny conditions expected to last through the weekend and into next week, the weather service reported.

Tuesday and Wednesday could see highs in the 90s across the valleys, according to the weather service.
