Redondo Beach launches new street sweeping map

The city of Redondo Beach is introducing a new tool to improve street sweeping enforcement.

The interactive digital map provides real-time updates on street sweeping schedules and parking restrictions to help residents avoid fines.

“The implementation of this innovative tool is a major step forward in making street sweeping and parking enforcement more efficient and convenient for the residents of Redondo Beach,” Redondo Beach Police Chief Joe Hoffman said in a statement.

Last fall, the city amended its parking rules to allow cars to park again as soon as street sweeping is completed.

Capt. Michael Martinez told KNX News’ Nataly Tavidian that the mapping system will help keep things simple for parking enforcement officers.

“I know there's some areas in Redondo Beach where parking is very, very limited,” he said. “That's one of the challenges that our parking enforcement was facing, the cars that would park immediately after the sweeper goes by … and if there's a big gap, the parking enforcement officers couldn't tell whether or not the street sweeper went around cars.”
