
The remaining evacuation orders from the Sunset Fire were lifted at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, and the blaze was fully contained after burning 43 acres.

“At 7:30 AM, the closed section of the Sunset Fire, area North of Franklin, will be OPEN and all evacuation orders LIFTED,” Margaret Stewart, spokesperson for the LAFD, said. “We will still have LAFD companies working in the area and ask you to be careful while returning to your homes.”
The fire started just before 6 PM Wednesday and started around 10 acres before growing rapidly. As of Thursday morning, the fire was fully contained after burning 43 acres.
Mandatory evacuation orders were issued Wednesday between Laurel Canyon Boulevard and the Hollywood (101) Freeway, from Mulholland Drive on the north to Hollywood Boulevard on the south.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
