On Saturday, residents of Antelope Valley are set to protest the controversial release order for a convicted serial rapist, known as the "Pillowcase Rapist.”
On Oct. 8, a judge ruled that Christopher Hubbart, 74, would be allowed to live at an Antelope Valley home after his release from a state hospital.
This ruling prompted backlash from residents like Mary Jeters.
“Christopher Hubbard was placed out here 10 years ago and there was constant, continuous protest that entire time that he was here,” Jeters told KNX News’ Nataly Tavidian. “It almost seems like torture to put him back here because it isn't fair to him and it certainly isn't fair to the community. “
She added that she’s not just concerned about Hubbard’s release.
“We know there are at least 19 more in Coalinga State Mental Hospital and that Liberty Health Care and the Department of State Hospitals is pushing to release them out into communities throughout the state,” she said.

In 1972, Hubbart was sentenced to state hospitals in L.A. County for multiple rapes before being released in 1979, according to CBS San Francisco. The outlet reported that Hubbart moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and was convicted for a series of sexual assaults in 1983.
The protest will begin at the Juniper Hills Community Center at 12 p.m.
