A Riverside County woman was arrested after she called police on a family she saw in Costco, according to the Daily News.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said the 23-year-old woman is facing charges for giving false information to a police officer as well as knowingly filing a false police report.

Officials say the woman posted a video of a family of five eating at Costco. She noticed the teen “appeared sad” and repeatedly asked the teen if she was ok. When the family left, the woman followed them out to the parking lot, filming them, and then called 911.

The woman claimed in her social media posts that the teenager “begged for help” and claimed her parents “raped and abused her.”

Officials say the post went viral and several other social media users “attempted to save the teen” by publicizing the family’s address as well as the father’s workplace. The issue at hand, according to officials, was that family, including the parents, were white and the teen was black.

Deputies, as well as police in Arizona where the family resides, investigated the family and found that no such thing was going on.

Deputies said the woman who made the video was arrested on Saturday and claim she lied, causing stress to the family.
