It happened late Christmas Eve when a single mother and her two sons returned to their apartment and found the presents under the tree had been stolen, according to a press release.

After the responding patrol officers took a report, they went to the station and grabbed extra toys the station to give to the family, officials said. Other officers and dispatchers also donated $700.

The officers, as well as Riverside firefighters, dropped the presents off to the family early Sunday morning.
