SAG-AFTRA and the union representing the studios and streamers are expected to return to the bargaining table on Monday.
The meeting comes after the Writers Guild of America ended their strike on Sept. 27. The union’s members will vote on the proposed contract agreement that was made between the union and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
Cynthia Littleton, Co-Editor-in-Chief at Variety, told KNX News’ Jon Baird, that studios and streamers have “priority projects.”
“That’s very much what they’re focused on so that they can salvage some kind of first quarter, first half of 2024, any kind of release schedule,” she said.
She added that making a deal with the actors would help the studios be not so far behind in scheduling.
At the forefront of the actors’ strike are protections against artificial intelligence, streaming residuals, and pay raises.
SAG-AFTRA has been on strike since July 14.
