San Clemente residents are upset that rocks have been mixed in with sand that’s been brought in to help with erosion along the shoreline.
It’s part of a sand replenishment project that is supposed to widen the beach near the pier by about 50 feet. Amy Dixon spoke to KCAL News about the problem.
“It's loaded with rocks. It's more like dirt than sand, and I don't think it's a great replacement product for the beach,” she said.
The mayor of San Clemente, Victor Cabral, said he’s aware of the concerns.

“It's a large site there, certain areas that are probably better for sand than others, but the location that they determined was best, there happened to be a lot of cobble and a lot of rocks,” he said.
The project is supposed to be finished by the end of the month.
