Between Christmas and New Year's Day, Reginald Scott's red Mustang had its tires slashed and painted with graffiti, including 'Merry Christmas,' followed by the N-word and Swastikas.

Scott filed a report with the LAPD, and Captain Shannon White said harbor area detectives have given the case a high priority.

According to White, investigators believe the crime is related to a 'parking incident' that 'escalated' and ask that anybody with evidence contact the LAPD as they canvass the neighborhood for surveillance video or witness statements.

White said, "I think it's important for the community to understand there's no current evidence to suggest that there's a broader issue related to racial crimes within the area, and so we do want to focus our attention on this particular victim and their family."

Scott says this is the third time in two years one of his personal vehicles has been vandalized, and while he and his family have lived in the area for 20 years, they are now considering relocating out of the area for their safety.
