Crews are responding to a brush fire near a residential area in Simi Valley.
The Sandy Fire was first reported around 10 a.m. off Sandy Ave., according to CalFire. As of 11:00 a.m., the fire was at 10 acres. Around 11:18 a.m., the fire was at 184 acres.
Los Angeles County Fire and LAFD are assisting Ventura County Fire Department in putting out the blaze. LAFD sent three strike teams, a water-dropping helicopter, and hand crews, according to City News Service.
Evacuation orders were issued roughly south of Royal Ave., east of Madera Rd., west of Edison Rd., and north of the Albertson Fire Rd. Orders were also issued from south of Madera Rd., down to roughly Lang Ranch Parkway, which includes the areas of Woodridge, Eagle Ridge, Cobblestone, Verdigris and Lang Ranch.
Evacuation warnings were issued roughly south of Madera Rd/, west of the Lake Park Dr, and east of the Bard Reservoir.
A temporary evacuation point will open at 12 p.m. at the Rancho Santa Susana Community Park at 505 Los Angeles Ave.
