The canceled races will be rescheduled in the coming weeks, and the first make-up day will be Jan. 8, Santa Anita officials said.

As of Wednesday, racing was still scheduled to take place Friday through Sunday at Santa Anita, with the first post at 12:30 p.m. Friday and at noon Saturday and Sunday.

Last Sunday, the Arcadia track drew its largest Opening Day crowd since 2016, 41,962, its most for a Sunday opener since 1999. That was after a previous storm system forced a two-day delay of its traditional Dec. 26 Opening Day.

"Opening Day is very important to create momentum for the season, and today's large crowd provided terrific energy," Nate Newby, Santa Anita Park's senior vice president and general manager, said Sunday.
