Santa Monica police searched Tuesday for a man and an SUV believed to have struck and killed a pedestrian before fleeing at a high rate of speed.
Police released a photo showing a man with a dark beard wearing a dark hoodie and walking down a sidewalk, and another photo showing a white Toyota RAV4.

The victim's name has not yet been released, but police said she was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a Santa Monica resident.

The crash occurred around 6:40 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Chelsea Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard near Douglas Park, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The vehicle was last seen heading eastbound on Wilshire Boulevard at a high rate of speed, police said.
