GRAPEVINE, Calif. (KNX) — A 73-year-old hiker who went missing near Mount Pinos, which sits in Los Padres National Forest on the border between Ventura and Kern counties, was found safe Thursday, authorities said.
Gab Song was last seen early Tuesday when he went for a hike near the mountain, just prior to a cold spell hitting the Southern California region, bringing near-freezing temperatures and snow to mountain areas.
"MR. SONG HAS BEEN FOUND!" the Ventura County East Valley Search and Rescue team tweeted shortly before 12:30 p.m. Thursday referring to Song. "He is in good condition."
Song's son made a public plea Wednesday to help find his father and the post went viral.
“My dad went on a hike by himself at [Mount] Pinos yesterday,” Song’s son, Mike Song, wrote in an Instagram post published Wednesday. “He never came back last night. His car has been located at the base of the trail, but no sign of him.”
The younger Song warned that his father suffers from “high blood pressure” and did not have his medicine on his person when he went on the hike.
